Oh hello, what’s this – a revival of Quaffable Reading’s Whats On pages? That’s right – I suddenly have the time to write this again. Taproom Events

Double-Barrelled Taproom


If you want Pizza to eat, there’s no doubt that Double-Barrelled is the place to go to this weekend, with 3 pizza vendors across 3 days. And why not try their new Margarita Gose, Three Day Vacation.

Thursday: 5pm – 10pm.  Squizzel Quizzes Disney Quiz and Food by Cheesiest Pizza Co
Friday: 4pm – 10pm. Live Music from the Alexandra Grant Duo from 7:30pm. Food by Sarv’s Slice Pizzas

Elusive Taproom


If you fancy a trip to Elusive to try out some of their new beers like Corvallis (a 7.4% Extra IPA collab with UnBarred) or Terra (a 4.7% continental pale ale brewed in collaboration with McColls. No, not the corner shop – the Bishop Aukland based brewery), you can book a table by calling 0118 9732153 or emailing beer@elusivebrewing.com.

Loddon Tap Yard



Loddon have just moved to their summer opening hours, which means longer each day. You can book at table here if you want to be sure of getting a seat, but in general it’s not needed. There’s construction going on for a permanent kitchen in conjunction with Proper Takeout, and until then there’s other street food available at the weekends too.

If you’re a big fan of Loddon, you can also join a tasting evening and tap takeover at the Packhorse on Friday night. Tickets here.

Siren Tap Yard


Siren have launched an incredible 12 new beers this week, so get along to the taproom to try them out in cans. If you want to book a table, contact them here.

Sunday noon – 7 pm. Pizza by Siren

And also, Siren are doing a special beer for the Are You Listening festival with 10p from each can going to Reading Mencap, so either buy AYL tickets, or go online and buy the beer.

The Haunt at Phantom


Head along to Phantom to check out their new beers – Bunk Bed Test Drive, a 4.5% fruity pale ale, and Baggage Claim, a 7.6% fruity IPA. Full disclosure – they gave me some Baggage Claim to try for free last weekend, and it was absolutely amazing.

10% of all Phantom beer sales this weekend will go to their charity of the month, Anxiety UK, so get along there to support a good cause.

Saturday and Sunday – The Greyfriar has paired up with the amazing Deadlocked Escape Rooms to run a free escape room challenge in the pub. No booking required

Phantom Brewery are doing unlimited breakfast and beer on Saturday 6th May. Tickets here.

Loddon Beer and Beard Festival

Visit the Opies Beard and Moustache Championship at Loddon on the 20th May. Tickets are £6.50 with all profits going to local charity Daisy’s Dream.

Park House Local Drinks Festival

The University are running a festival celebrating local wine, beer, cider, and gin producers. Come along and meet the people behind the drinks and have some food too. Tickets here.

Bracknell Ale & Cider Festival

Bracknell Ale & Cider festival is back again on the 28th May at Bracknell Rugby Club. Tickets at bracknellalefestival.co.uk.

Twyford Beer Festival

Twyford Beer Festival has been the go-to beer festival in past years with the sad absence of the Reading Beer Festival. It’s sure to be popular again this year, so get your tickets for 8th to 10th June here.
